As the name suggests, Limit Poker places a limit on the size and number of bets during a poker game. All bets cannot be smaller than the minimum bet, and cannot exceed the maximum bet. The number of bets during each round is also limited (i.e., a maximum of 4 raises/bets per round of betting).
The sizes of the betting limits are usually indicated in the name of the game. For example, in a $5-$10 Limit Poker game, the bets would be as follows:
- Before the flop = $5 per bet (small bet)
- On the flop = $5 per bet
- On the turn = $10 per bet (large bet)
- On the river = $10 per bet
